About the Comic

Xan is the culmination of three years of desperately wanting to do a comic. I had a lot of ideas, you see. They changed a lot, too. When I got into manga, I was unfortunately dropped in the Dragonball square, e.g. four steps behind step one. That didn't matter though, because I also read Ironfist Chinmi which changed my view a little further. I wanted to do a comic about martial arts, and so a character named Shui was born. Shui didn't last long, though- that's to say he did. But my comic experience was nil at the time anyway, and it never really got anywhere.

Later, I read two fantastic webcomics: Megatokyo and Real Life. These two put things in perspective for me 100%. I knew exactly what I had to do. Being interested in spirituality, wanting to bring humour and wanting to do a comic based on real people in my life, Xan suddenly fell in to place like a horny alien into a Giger painting. I knew what I had to do.

If you've read the comic you'll know about it. I'm not going to describe everything in depth to you here. It's about life after death. Not only that, it's about coping with your own death and finding that the afterlife is just an abstraction of mortal life. I know the fact that the first thing that happens to Xan in this is that he dies may offend or annoy some poeple, as it did my father, but it's in there and it's my story, and I'm going to tell it.

A huge thankyou to everyone who believes in me. This includes my family and friends, and of course the loyal readers, the people of the internet, the geeks. Keep it l33t, d00dz.
